YOUR DATA, YOUR CONTROL
Privacy, in plain language.
Last updated: 17 September 2026
Supported tool processing happens entirely in your browser. Your source text and converted output are not uploaded to TidyFormats.
What happens to your data
Files you open are read locally. A Web Worker parses and converts the text on your device. TidyFormats does not send tool content to a backend, save it to a database, or store it in local storage. Reloading or closing this page clears the workspace. Downloads remain on your device; copied results enter your system clipboard.
Preferences and hosting
The color theme is stored locally under “tidyformats-theme.” The hosting provider necessarily receives web requests and may retain ordinary access logs, such as IP address, requested page, and browser information. Tool input is not included in these requests. Your browser, extensions, and operating system are outside TidyFormats’s control.
Analytics and advertising
Cloudflare Web Analytics, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), and advertising are disabled by default. If the owner enables analytics, this site asks for your permission before loading either provider, in every region. Declining does not restrict any tool. No analytics requests are sent before consent.
Cloudflare can measure aggregate visits, page views, referring sites, countries, device types, and page performance without analytics cookies. It does not identify unique people. Its beacon is skipped on URLs with query strings, unrecognized paths or fragments, and potentially sensitive referrer URLs.
GA4 measures page views, users, returning visits, sessions, engagement, and actions such as converting, copying, downloading, using samples, and opening or selecting a tool in search. Our custom events contain only predefined tool names, input/output format labels, generic error categories, and known page paths. We never send pasted data, uploaded file contents, converted output, filenames, search text, raw errors, email addresses, or names as analytics parameters. Query strings and fragments are omitted from our GA4 page information.
When allowed, GA4 uses first-party cookies with pseudonymous browser identifiers; this implementation sets a 180-day analytics-cookie lifetime. Analytics requests necessarily reveal the connection’s IP address to the receiving provider. TidyFormats does not read or attach IP addresses to events. Google states that GA4 uses IP addresses at collection time for location information and then discards them before logging. Advertising signals and personalization are disabled in our GA4 configuration. Third-party processing and retention remain subject to the provider’s practices and the owner’s account settings.
Your choices
Use Privacy Settings in the footer to allow or reject each available analytics provider. Your choice is saved locally for up to 180 days under “tidyformats-consent-v1.” Withdrawing an active permission reloads the page to stop its scripts and removes accessible GA analytics cookies. Copy your work first. Earlier analytics records are not erased by withdrawing consent. If preference storage is unavailable, choices apply only to the current page.
Analytics consent never grants advertising consent. Advertising is currently disabled. If advertising becomes available, its applicable provider disclosures and consent controls will be presented separately. You can use all tools without agreeing to optional measurement.
Messages you choose to send
The Contact page opens your email app; it does not submit a website form or attach your workspace data. If you send a message, we receive your email address, any sender name supplied by your email service, your message, and any attachments you choose to include. Our support inbox uses Gmail. This information is used to reply, investigate the issue you report, or handle your privacy request. It is not included in our website analytics events.
Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle the request and any related follow-up or applicable recordkeeping obligation. Do not include confidential datasets. You can ask about access, correction, or deletion of your support correspondence through the contact button. We may need to verify that a request concerns your correspondence before acting on it.
Third-party services and your choices
Hosting, email delivery, and optional analytics providers process information under their own practices, potentially in countries other than yours. For more information, see Google’s privacy policy and Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Analytics cookies and support messages are separate from the conversion data that remains on your device.
